Bakkavor launches 2023 apprenticeship programme
To coincide with National Apprenticeship Week (6-12 February), the manufacturer has opened applications for its September cohort.
Bakkavor is looking for 80 individuals to work in its 23 manufacturing sites across the UK – Scotland, Wigan, London, Newark and Kent – including 30 apprenticeships in engineering and 10 in manufacturing.
Variety of roles
Other roles are available across finance, human resources, food technology, business administration, safety health & environment, supply chain and continuous improvement. The programme also provides opportunities to gain higher and advanced apprenticeships.

This year’s intake of apprentices represented an increase of 20 roles from the previous year and 36 more than the number that were offered in 2021.
Apprenticeship history
Bakkavor has been running its apprenticeship programme for 10 years and offers two levels of apprenticeship designed to combine employment, on-the job learning and work-based training.
The manufacture described the apprenticeship roles as providing “real responsibility from day one” and allow apprentices to “contribute to key business activities and projects”.

Bakkavor apprenticeships
Bakkavor has been running its apprentice programme for 10 years and offers two levels of apprenticeship that are designed to combine employment, off-the job learning and work-based training.
The Advanced Apprenticeship runs for two years and is aimed at school leavers, typically those who have completed GCSEs and are starting in a new career. As an exception, Bakkavor’s Advanced Engineering Apprenticeships is four years.
The Higher Apprenticeship runs for two years, except Engineering which is four, and is aimed at those who have typically gained A-Level qualifications and are hoping to fast-track their career.
