Brewdog and Eurofins announce senior appointments
Brewdog appoints chief operating officer
Brewdog has appointed James Arrow as its new chief operating officer, starting his new role early this month.
He joins the brewer from Boots Opticians, where he served as managing director since 2019. Prior to his time with Boots, Arrow spent more than a decade at Dixons Carphone in a variety of senior roles and was part of the senior integration team that oversaw the merger of Dixons and Carphone Warehouse.
Commenting on his appointment, Arrow said: “I am thrilled to be joining BrewDog. The company has an amazing story and has been one of the standout British success stories over the past fifteen years.
“I am looking forward to bringing my experience to the company as it embarks on the next stage of its growth journey, in particular we will aim to profitably capitalise on the huge opportunity of the global bar roll-out programme, as well as further taking market share from the majors.”
Arrow’s new role at Brewdog followed the appointment of Chris Fielden as the company’s first chief supply chain officer, John Graham as chief executive of BrewDog USA and the announcement that C&A chief executive Giny Boer had joined the company’s board as an independent non-executive director.
James Watt, BrewDog chief executive, added: “Over the past few years we’ve focused on hiring exceptional new talent into the business and strengthening our leadership team.
“James brings an incredible array of experience and is a critical hire as we evolve as a brand, scale globally and importantly drive profitability across our business. Eurofins new head of food safety and food risk
In other appointment news, Eurofins Food & Water Testing UK has hired Sarah Eykelbosch as its new head of food safety and food risk.
Eykelbosch has held a number of food safety and food standards regulatory compliance roles during her career, with time spent with Trading Standards, retailers such as Tesco and Ocado, Muller Milk and Ingredients and as a consultant.
Her new role will see her helping customers to ensure their food safety risks are managed effectively.
“I’m delighted to join Eurofins, a global business renowned for its reputation within the testing sector,” said Eykelbosch. “My role builds on this, providing our customers with a range of complementary services including training, consultancy and insight to deliver assurance in their businesses and trust in their products, while maintaining the highest safety standards at all times.
“Delivering innovative compliance solutions and risk management are skills I have built up throughout my career within the food industry, as a technical manager then head of technical compliance and, more recently, in a consultancy capacity.”
Mark Carnaghan, managing director of Eurofins Food & Water Testing UK, welcomed Eykelbosch to the team. He added: “Sarah has enjoyed a career with some of the most renowned and reputable food retailers in the UK, and has already proved to be an excellent asset to Eurofins. Food Safety and Food Risk are naturally crucial to the work we undertake here, so it is excellent to have Sarah with her knowledge and skills leading in this area.”
